Outer Wilds - space exploration game

Hey, I just found a pretty neat space exploration game (completely different from KSP), it's in very early stage of development but it shows so much promise! This game is so obscure, I haven't heard much from it anywhere, so I decided to throw a link over here where I know there's an audience for this sort of stuff :)

I find it so immersive that you control a person (alien), and not a ship or an invisible force that drives a population or something abstract like that. No, you're one person, in first person view, you get inside the spaceship, put on a suit, assume the driver's seat. It all really helps build immersion.

We don't have spoiler tags here, do we? We could share findings :D

I don't think that's possible. That's probably the solution the developer found to make the world dynamic and eventful. If you visit the same location at different times you'll see different things <spoiler ahead> there's a planet collapsing on itself and you need to head there first thing on your mission if you want to read and see some of its parts.

Also, I tried to get as far away from the sun as possible and it didn't work lol

Yeah, I've come to that conclusion, too. Have you been to <spoiler ahead> the center of Giant's Deep yet? There's this strange giant rock core thing and I have no idea what it's got to do with the spacecraft that might have crashed into it (according to what the astronaut there said) <spoiler over>. Have you found anything interesting on the sand lossing of the Hourglass Twins?

I was there, but at the moment it's quite boring. I find Brittle Hollow to be the most interesting place. I mean it's got some wormhole like thingy in it's center and you'll get some clues about other worlds by exploring it.

There is another funny thing: After talking to some people in the village, I got the impression that their space program seems to be as reliable as the KSP one.

@astropapi1: Yes, you can play with mouse and keyboard. The input is pretty sensitive, but apart from that it works quite well.

Heh, I once did a mission to every body, and land on them all in one mission.

And the (SPOILER) caves under the Hourglass Twins are deadly.

But yeah, Brittle Hollow is my favorite place, its so interesting.

Edit: Let me share some keyboard shortcuts

0 - Teleports you to your ship

? - Blows up the sun

G - Toggles hud and pops up a display on the top left corner of the screen that shows time left until the sun explodes

3 - Teleports you above Timber Hearth

2 - Teleports you to Brittle Hollow

And as you can guess all the numbers correspond to different planets.

I've been there! Finding out how to get there, seeing it actually work and looking around was a very thrilling moment. But no, I have found nothing besides that weird rock. It might have more stuff eventually, as the game develops.

I feel like I have to stop playing to save for later :P

I believe I already spoiled myself too much already. I read an interview with the lead dev yesterday and he said there will be four special places where you'll get clues about the ancients. You can already visit most of them, but the clues aren't in the game yet. I don't want to find out how to get there before they really are implemented.

<spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!> In order to land on the quantum moon you need to have a line of sight with it all the time. For some reason it gets interrupt if you enter its sphere. The tick is to shoot a probe at it without letting it pass into it. You take a photograph of it and that's it. You will now be able to land on it. <spoiler over>

SPOILER WARNING

I think I found a bug. I went to brittle hollow, and went through the black hole to the other side, with the machine thing with the cannon thing. I parked inside, and got out. I was teleported back to brittle hollow, by the traveler guy. I went through the black hole to get back to my ship, but again I was transported to brittle hollow, and suddenly im in this room with some sort of powerful wind. I try hitting 0 to get back to ship, but nothing works. I press 1, and I'm 12 km away. I start moving back to it, but the wind returns! Then the supernova happens (I was SURE it wasn't 20 minutes!) and it's a weird rainbow color.
