Johno
Quick question - I see that there are two kinds of wings available. Do they actually do anything or are they just spacecraft bling?
blueman
They have an effect in the atmosphere, but don't do anything in space (obviously.) Can be a pain in the ass on very long rockets, as they add a lot of turbulence.
Ntmoore19
Wings are odd. They are really needed because SAS modules seem to do their job better. I personally only use wings if I want to screw around an make a ship that spins everywhere or make a 'Rocket-Plane' of some sort.
MILLANDSON
Wings also absorb heat, reducing the chance of overheating.
Johnman
Unfortunately wings don't produce lift, so although they hinder rotation while moving inside the atmosphere, they won't enable you to glide.
Ice
The only thing I've seen them do is to make my rocket spin or trip.
BrokeDiamond
If used in conjunction with an SAS module, wings allow your autopilot to steer the ship better in atmosphere (and in space for some reason if you have 0.13). Wings also allow you to build planes in 0.16.
