Starting to dislike the Discovery channel.

I agree discovery is showing a lot of stuff that does not belong on there. Only show I still watch on Discovery is good old Myhtbusters!

Fortunately, here in Arkansas, we have PBS. Free over-the-air broadcast t.v. There are great programs such as Nova, Nova Science Now, Frontline, and Nature that are broadcast in crystal clear hi-def. All you need is a modern t.v. and a set of rabbit ears. Unfortunately for those outside of the U.S., I don't think you can access pbs.org, but you can search for these programs on youtube.

The Discovery channel has been mostly garbage for quite some time.

The Science channel is pretty decent, unfortunately my new cable provider does not provide it. The Military channel was also pretty decent last time I still had access to it.

I think the biggest joke of all is the "History" channel though. There was a time when they had fascinating shows on like, the history of the Roman empire, the Russian Czars, the American presidents, etc. There is so much fascinating history out there to explore... but now it's just aliens, truckers, and pawn shops.

I think the market is wide open to someone who is willing to start an ACTUAL history/science/intellectual channel.

I've hated discovery, history, TLC, A&E, and Syfy for a long time now. Pretty much the only channels that I watch anymore are Science, Comedy Central (Mostly for South Park, Colbert Report, Daily Show, and CC Presents), NASA TV, Military Channel (Mostly for the old WWII films), and BBC America (For Top Gear, Dr. Who, and their Amazing news service which makes American news look like a 1-year-old's crappy drawing). I'll watch history once in a blue moon when they have something decent on, although it's mostly "HOW HITLER USED HIS STRAIGHT RAZOR" or "WHICH BEER DID HITLER DRINK?"

Mythbusters was lost a long time ago. Ever since probably season 7-8, they are just so staged, scripted, and non-entertaining for me. What about the older seasons where they tested factual myths that were scientific and informative? Even Adam and Jamie are almost completely scripted. Not to mention the narrator, who with every line, has to make some sort of stupid and cheesy pun...Okay, rant over.

Alabama and Georgia both have this. With me living right on the state line, I get both...which is essentially the same programming, just with the Georgia programming being an hour ahead(I live in two time zones essentially.)

Yeah. I used to watch discovery channel, but my favourite programs are almost not being broadcasted:

Mythbusters: you learn something, and there are explosions. I don't see it anymore.

Brainiac: you again learn something, and there are (sometimes) more explosions. Never saw it again.

problem is it's fiction presented as fact, and they present tons of "evidence" that bigfoot does indeed exist, including using those fake footprints and having "scientists" verify that they're real.

Oh, yeah. There's no question that it's mendacious. I just can't help but admire the brilliance with which it's pulled off, and how they get people to fall for it over and over.

Of course, I also have a local library that puts Zecharia Sitchin-inspired books in their non-fiction science section. I've gotten so cynical about it that almost all I can do to keep myself sane sometimes is point and giggle.

I might take this opportunity to add:

Whats with all the survival shows now? They weren't interesting enough so now everyone has to be naked in them? What... the... hell. <I meant to say heck but it just came out that way.

And yes, its been ruined, along with every game, and every other channel and every movie.
