A question on Multicore systems. Not asking for the game to support them.

On a multi core windows -8 machine does windows automatically assign active single core programs their own core?

Can you have windows on one core and a game on another? Do you need to assign or config your cores in some way?

I think it automatically load balances. You CAN assign core affinities to various processes, but it's a pain in the butt and generally not recommended.

Can you reserve a core for one program exclusively? (while it running of course).

In windows 7 there is an Set Affinity command, it allows you to configure applications to use only one, or several, of the processor cores. But you cannot reserve a core only for this process.
