Stuck on the wiki Campaign: Age of Rocketry

Ok I have been to the Mun landed explored and returns to Kerbin. All that I am finding easier then these from here http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Campaign:_Age_of_Rocketry

Liquid Fuel Rocketry

  • Launch LVT-30 Liquid Fuel Rocket Eastwards
  • Must be unmanned.
  • Must have nosecone or parachute.
  • Land that thing in the ocean lest you worry the Kerbiets.
  • Launch Two-Stage LVT-30 Liquid Fuel Rocket and Maintain 45 degrees Eastwards after 10,000m
  • Must be unmanned.
  • Must have nosecone or parachute.
  • After your rocket goes above 70,000m you will reach space at this point and the music will play celebrating your accomplishment.

K2 Rocket

Those pesky Kermans...

  • Launch LVT-30 Liquid Fuel Rocket and control its reentry point.
  • Missile must go above 70km.
  • Missile must land near a pre-selected island of your choosing.

I have been trying to make one that just goes just past 70km and comes back. Seems my last unmanned stage is completely unbalanced and is totally uncontrollable. I am trying to make it in accordance to the rules.

  • Spaceflight is expensive, and technology progressive. Challenge yourself to build the simplest and cheapest launch systems and spacecraft to accomplish the mission.
  • SAS modules don't exist until the middle of the Kerbinai Program, so don't use them until then (yes hotshot, you will need to fly using your onboard command module SAS only). Advanced SAS modules don't exist until the Kerbollo Program during the Mun Race.
  • If an advanced part exists, don't use it if an alternative exists and you can still accomplish your mission.

So every one of my Liquid Fuel Rockets has at least 2 stages. Can anyone help? a hint? a swift boot to the head? Thanks :D

Why two stage? A single LV-T30 with an appropriate amount of propellant (say, 1600 L) should be able to put an OKTO2, a pair of batteries (good for ~4 orbits), and a parachute into orbit.

edit: Just tried it and got into a 78.4 x 90.7 km orbit (eugh) with ~773 m/s to spare. Hrm.

You don't need two stages to get into space. To orbit yes, but not get into space. The campaign only is to get into space.

You can do it with a single FL-T800 Fuel Tank fuel tank, an LV 30 engine, four fins, a Probodobodyne OKTO, and even a parachute. Just head up straight at full throttle, then turn to 45 degrees east after you hit 10km altitude. You will burn out at around 20k, but your apoapsis should shoot well over 100km. I updated the campaign to reflect the goal is to get into space, not orbit. Maybe that will help.
