Skyhook Construction Tutorial

This is a tutorial on how to hang things in the sky, just like this:

The parts stay in place without any power consumption, they behave as if they were attached to a launch stability enhancer. Which is actually the case, the launch-clamp just happens to be somewhere else.

Here is how it works: (see this tutorial video)

- In the VAB/SPH, add one or several launch clamps to your craft.

- Rotate the whole craft (pitch or yaw) with (Shift+)WASD

- Note how the bottom end of the launch clamp always stays connected to the floor, regardless of how you translate or rotate the ship.

- attach stuff to the sides of the launch clamps (metal plates and girders are great for this, but many other parts work as well)

- reset the orientation of the whole craft.

- stop and wonder.

As can be seen in the video, a part attached to the sides of a clamp moves with the rest of the vessel, relative to the root part of the craft, and not relative to the clamp the part was originally attached to. With some practice and head-scratching, your can place the floating part anywhere you want.

Now go and build crazy floating stuff :)

Well done! Those clamps have been around for -AGES-, since 0.16, 20 July 2012, which is just under 1 year, and no-one seems to have figured these out before!

Nice work mate!

Its quite possible this started only recently, as "attaching stuff to launch clamps" was only added recently.
