Ory Gene Junkworks i812 Reveal:

Recommended Posts

Are you tired of pulling your hair out getting spaceplanes into space? Are SSTO's just too problematic to deal with?

Have you ever been to Laythe and said to yourself, "If I only had a plane, I could travel to those other islands over there."

What is flight?...

Is it the thrust of engines, overcoming gravity itself, exploding you beyond the skies and into the vacuum of space?...

Is it the perceived lift created by air rushing around your flailing arms in a panic as you plummet back to earth?...

From the mind of president and CEO Ory Gene Kerman...

Flight is...

Presenting the Ory Gene Junkworks i812 Laythe Jet Transport Ship

Savor the best of both. Travel to Laythe in the comfort of a spacious 6 passenger spacecraft (3 minimum required) , with all the amenities of home.

Once you've arrived, you have not just one but 2 jet aircraft ready to deorbit and fly to any island you choose.

But wait! You say. "What happens when the Jets run low on fuel?"

Don't worry, the Lathe Jet Transport Command Module/Living Quarters doubles as a Lander/Refueling Station.

With rocket assist you can parachute to a landing site and dock your aircraft at one of 4 docking ports to refuel.

The Transfer Stage can remain in orbit for other ships that might need fuel on the long trip to Lathe or back to Kerbin.

Why wait? Get your's today and explore Laythe like you've never done before with the i812 from Ory Gene Junkworks.

Action Keys:

0 = Instruments

1 = Toggle Outboard Mainsails

2 = Toggle Center Mainsail

3 = Toggle LV-N's

5 = Toggle Aircraft Docking Covers

6 = N/A

7 = N/A

8 = N/A

9 = Toggle Gimbals

Make sure you have a window to Jool intercept. Where Kerbin is at 3:00 position and Jool is at 11:30 position in the Map View.

Flight Instructions

1) Prior to launch press the 9 key twice to lock outer Mainsail gimbals.

2) Press the T key to activate SAS.

3) Press the U key to turn on lights (Optional).

4) Press the Left Shift key until you are at maximum throttle.

5) Press Spacebar to launch and as each stage empties.

6) At approx 10,000m press the T key to disengage SAS.

7) Pitch rocket to 20° from vertical, bearing 90° East.

8) Press T key to turn SAS back on.

9) At approx 30,000m press the T key to disengage SAS.

10) Pitch rocket 45°, bearing 90° East.

11) Watch your apoapsis. When it reaches 70,000m or greater, press the X key to shut down your rockets.

12) Press the 1 key to turn off the outer 2 Mainsails.

13) Drift until you near your apoapsis.

14) Turn your ship until it is pointing towards the horizon line on the Navball.

15) Press the Shift key to throttle up your engines to max.

16) When your speed reahes 2,000m/s press the 2 key to shut down center Mainsail.

17) Continue burning LV-N's until you have achieved a circular orbit.

18) Send Fuel Tankers to refuel your ship and to transfer at least 1 additional Kerbalnaut to help man the vessel. 1 to pilot the rocket and 2 (1 each) to pilot the jets.

Note: Use RCS thrusters to orient the Jet Transport Ship so that the port and starboard docking ports are facing North and South, level with the horizon.

This will make docking easier.

19) After refueling, place a Maneuver Node and plot an intercept course to Jool.

20) Look at total burn time. When your ship is half the total time to the node, fire your LV-N's to max. That is if your total burn time is 15 mins, start firing at 7 mins, 30 secs.

21) When you have Jool targeted, shut down the engines.

22) Fast forward to Jool, fine tune trajectory to Jool's periapsis to approx 124,000m. SAVE F5 just in case.

23) Aerobrake in Jools atmosphere. Beware the Kraken!

24) Once clear of Jool's atmosphere, plot a course to Laythe. Set Laythe periapsis to approx 24,000m.

25) Aerobrake in Laythe's atmosphere and circularize orbit approx 100,000m above Laythe.

26) EVA the pilots to each of the aircraft and enter the cockpits and SAVE.

27) Manually disconect the jet from the center stage. Press [ or ] key to switch control to jet.

Note: You may have to manually adjust staging on the left side of the screen for each jet.

a) Click on the + sign to create a new stage below and drag the booster rockets into that stage.

B) Create a separate stage between the boosters and the jet engine and drag the radial decouplers into it and SAVE!

28) With throttle down to 0, press Spacebar to activate the jet's booster rockets.

29) Gently apply thrust for a few seconds to distance yourself from the Transport Ship.

30) Rotate jet facing retrograde marker and fire rockets to deorbit. Press the T key to turn on SAS.

31) Press X key to shut down booster rockets.

32) Rotate jet to prograde marker and press Spacebar to release booster rockets.

33) Upon entering Laythe's atmosphere press Spacebar to activate jet engine and Left Shift to max thrust.

34) Start flying. To adjust trim press Alt-W to lower or Alt-S to raise nose. Pressing Alt-X resets.

Note: After landing jet raise the front gear to switch to rover mode. Always lower front gear to take off or you will blow out rover wheels!

35) Switch to Command Ship in orbit. You should have at least 1 pilot to control lander.

36) Decouple Landing Module and fire retro rocket to deorbit to an island of your choice.

Note: There are 2 small fuel / oxidizer tanks under the drogue chutes that can be siphoned off to the main tank if needed.

37) Fly jets to Lander and refuel and enjoy.
