[WIP] Magic Smoke Industries Animator

Credit goes to snjo for the Firespitter plugin & TaranisElsu for the TACLib. It will allow you to access part animations play the animation forward or reverse. Still needs some work (currently doesn't store the current state of the animations so if you leave and come back the positions are lost). Why would anyone do this you ask? Simple. Ever land on a hill and your lander is crooked? Maybe a bit too crooked that it may topple over? Here's a solution:

Exactly what i need for my Laythe base!! My second laythe base i should say....the first one fell over =P

It's been by biggest annoyance with landing on any rocky surface. I've lost many ships due to this because I had no more fuel left to adjust!

All of my industrial landers/bases are to heavy or big...if they tip stuff is getting broke. I cant count the number of times I have tried to get something like this working with old DR parts. A couple tries I got close...but nothing as fluid as in that vid, and nothing I felt stable enough for my industrial projects either.

If you look in my VAB about 1/3 of the saves are half built ships just waiting for MSI parts...about 6 ships in SPH in same condition =)

You guys are seriously kicking ass and takin names!

ooo yes please, the very first base I managed to get on the mun it was on a slope, didn't look very stable at all.. this would have been perfect.. - I presume if you got more than 4 feet it will adjust to how many feet you got on the surface :)

Yup, it will list all of them currently on the vessel.

Will this functionality be able to be added to other animated part?

Currently all you have to do is add a line to the cfg but I am thinking of creating a part so it will expose all animations which will eliminate the need of editing the cfg files.

Just a sample of the new leg pack thats coming out with the MSI Anim8tor plugin. No, not all super fancy like these but they will all have several animation states..

This video shows the deployment AND the raise/lower, so no this is not all in one sequence.

* This animation may change, I think its a bit sterile, I will make the rotation and the unfold a bit more fluid and not so slow.

Arachnid Legs - 2.5m version

(Yes, arachnids have 8 legs, this is the mini version)

Good news. New plugin is close to being complete. Had some goofy issues but now they are resolved. Just tidying up the code a little then it's a matter of waiting for all the parts to finish for the MSIAnimator parts pack. Fun times!

Awesome!

Any chance of there being a prerelease for plugin when its ready?

This is gonna be even more helpful with the terrain changes.

Possibly. Devo however is pretty close to finishing the parts. He's already got a working model for the Controller portion. I can't wait to land on rocky terrain.

Finally had a chance to play with the parts that Devo is making for the MSIAnimator plugin. These are awesome! I just have one more thing to work on which is the GUI window sizes and I'll have Devo test the final version. Won't be too long now.

Here's a teaser video while I wait for Devo to test out the plugin.

1. MSIAnimator parts (Legs, Hatches, etc). Right click one of those and you can control the animation of that specific part. (Window labeled MSIAnimator)

2. MSIAnimatorController part. Animation Controller serves no purpose other than it allows you to control ALL MSIAnimator parts on the vessel. (Window labeled MSIAController)

In this video I control the animation of the hatch. You can also just toggle the hatch normal by right clicking and selecting "Open Hatch/Close Hatch" Same with the legs. I later adjust the legs so the vessel is level. Enjoy.
