I just noticed how slowly real rockets seem to take off. This thing looks like it's crawling off the launch pad while my ship that is capable of reaching Eeloo shoots off and reaches 100 m/s within 10 seconds.

KSP rockets are tiny compared to the real thing. And large things appear to be moving much slower. The real rockets lift off at right around 1G, however, about the same as a KSP rocket.

It's a basic test of the guidance and control theory - zooming around at high speed just makes thing more difficult, so there's no point to it.
