Thank you very much. I built it up two times. It would not have happened without Devogen's Eagles, much less the many other addons. It's nowhere near perfect, but if you don't look TOO close I think one can suspend disbelief for a few moments at least! Yeah - the music - this is very much a cue from watching Discovery come on screen the first time in 2001. KSP lends itself very well to the Meta Probe.

You can & I did once. I have made the assumption that they were unsafe for the inhabitants, this video was also made for 1999 fans. I think also I wanted to get the probe in to orbit not having used any of it's own resources. Since then I did add an infinite fuel tank, which kind of makes the topic moot.

I got your question now - no the nukes we nearly useless on this payload. I think they'll be really great for the long journey though.

BUT: I am currently working on a "component lifter" ... a vehicle reminiscent of the Eagle and Swift, that will be somewhat optimized for atmospheric flight, that will take the components of Meta up for on orbit assembly. Steep curve on this project as I plan to make my own parts / mods. This is all part of a multi year video project, depicting Earth to Meta flight and hopefully landing, as suggested in the first episode of Space: 1999. For that flight, I plan to remove the infinite fuel tank, and also the TAC fuel balancer which is allowing unlimited fuel to be crossfed anywhere right now.
