Hey, this just happened, and it is crazy.

So, I was mucking around with another kerbal tied to an SRB.

He was plummeting to the ground, well the sea to be exact, and felt it was time to deploy the parachute. I thought it had failed, and he hit the ground, but then, this happened.

My kerbal looks horrified.

Not quite sure what happened, but I seem to have encountered a super acceleration bug.

It reminds me of something in a recent Scott Manley video. He was doing gravity assists, and said something about how much extra delta v he could get from a planet if he didn't have to worry about the atmosphere, or even the lithosphere.

Maybe Dudney forgot to stop at the lithosphere....
