and if you can get it working, heres some instructions on how i managed to get it to orbit.

1a. if you're launching from the runway, try to gently pull the plane up off the runway once its reached around 100 m/s. use asas to increment your way up to 90 degrees. the plane shoule pull up for you once in the air, so simply press t over and over really.

1b. If you're taking off from the launchpad, set your mechjeb to 72 km orbit, and 50% grade, gravity turn at 8000m, and hit space.

2. once you hit 8000 meters, start pitching forward into a gravity turn. slowly change turn grade from 50%, to around 15%, as you start. this ensures that you're gaining more speed than altitude in the atmosphere.

3. set your warp to 2x (to allow air intakes to double) and fly her up to about 20,000m. at this point, you will need to switch the sabre engines from the b9 pack, from atmospheric to rocket mode. press either 1 or 2 to do this (cant remember what one!) set turn grade back up to 50% slowly to keep the craft stable, then let it gain speed to get up to the top of its orbit at around 72km.

4. burn to circularize.

after refueling in orbit, i was able to successfully take it to duna. still trying to work out that landing thogh...
