What is considered a proper Munbase?

Recommended Posts

I'm talking about a Munbase that has everything you need to do everything on the moon. Right now I have a power core, science core, communication core, and a manned rover. My next plan is to add robotic core to build up but I'm not sure if I need it. What do you think I would need?

My guess that it really only -needs- some kind of Habitation Module and a docking port for rovers and future extensions. If one were to build a base in real life, it'd have habitation, supply storage, fuel, power, science and communications, rover bays, airlocks, maybe some kind of drilling unit. If you want you could add wheels to your base and make it mobile.

Most people would say "Kethane Drilling!". But I personally don't know anything about how that mod works.

But yeah, Habitation Modules for Kerbals to live in is a good idea for base design.

In either single person capsule or in the three person capsule.

Well that's my suggestion than. A dedicated habitat core.

Ofcourse you can't actually make anything, but stack some hitchikers ontop of eachother or something, and it LOOKS like something they could live in. Better than having them straped in a seat for 2 months

EDIT: OR mods. I believe there are some mods just for this

Might I suggst the can lander or the hitchhiker for the Habitation modual. Both of these will fit on the orange tanks.

Personally I'd put a seperate module, not attached to the rest for habitation.

Like 2 hitchhikers with a lander can ontop, stacked upright

There is a mod that gives you launch pads that you can fly to and deply on other space bodys. You need to land it near kethane deposits (comes with the mod) though, but your base is on wheels so that shouldn't be a problem

My base is always only three units, to make it small part cout but covering everything.

Habitat - where crew lives and do some science maybe, that is attached to lifesupport ofc.

Rover - for obvious reasons.

Drill unit/rafinery - Kethane working unit that can drill, move and convert fuel.

Such a base usually has 4 kerbals as a standard crew. Habitat is then about at least 1km away from drilling unit as a precausion to any accident when drilling, explosion and such.
