Apollo 11 mission report

I just realized my apollo replica looks wrong....

I've been doing it with 2.5 m and 3.75m parts, looks like I need 5m parts for the first 2 stages.

I'm rather ashamed that this is a sudden realization because I've looked at the XKCD image tons of times.

Is there a mod that adds 5m parts? I mean to make an Apollo replica as well, but it is easiest with 5m parts.

Once your in orbit you half-way to anywhere

Said some famous guy

Robert Heinlein. "Once you're in orbit, you're halfway to anywhere."

Shame I can't read the txt on those images.. What did they do with the Lem after the crew exits it for the return home burn? They just jettison it? So is the Lem still orbiting the moon?

Depends on what mission you're looking at. Most dumped the LEM in lunar orbit. Sometimes they bothered to deorbit it, sometimes they just left it to decay on its own (lunar orbits are notoriously unstable). The only exceptions to this are the early test missions and Apollo 13 where they used it as lifeboat. In both cases it burned up in the atmosphere. A notable exception is Apollo 10, the ascent stage ended up in solar orbit in that mission.
