Like a lot of people have said, I'd be ok with it, but would DEFINATELY prefer to have some way of interacting with the world, like a robot or something. Or maybe you could run a matrix-style program, like being on earth but in a simulation.

Agree, now running your brain on an emulator would require 3-4 order of magnitude above current computing. On the upside its like going from 8086 to i7, on other hand Intel has used billions to increase performance 50% the last 5 years.

Neuromorphics would get around that: why have a digital turing machine simulating an analog neural network when you could just build an analog neural network directly copying an analog neural network?

Assuming the brain can be reduced to a purely quantitative model... good luck with that.
