How do you make parts consume power?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I've had the Sunbeam mod for a while, and useful as it is, it feels a bit cheaty. Now that we have electricity, I would like to set it up so that it burns energy while 'firing', but I haven't been able to figure out how.

Is there an easy method to do this?

You'd have to edit the .cfg file for the part, if you do a search, probably on the KSP Wiki about modding, there'll be information on which part of the .cfg file you'll need to edit to make it consume resources.

If a part doesn't use power, it doesn't use power, simple as that AFAIK. You'd have to change the part yourself to have it consume electricity on use.

as in, change the plugin, or the .cfg file?

Ok, for clarity: I am wanting specific code, or a specific part I can look to to find the code, that I would need to drop into the .cfg file, to allow the part (Sunbeam Lazor or DYJ GAU-17) to consume power when activated (I was thinking about 50/sec would be reasonable)

If you're looking for an off/on type operation, you may be able to copy the electricity modules from the light parts over to what you're trying to do. I'm not 100% sure though, but give it a try and edit the values to how you want.
