Base Race!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say hello to all the other space truckers.

Right now, I'm trying to setup orbital stations on all planets.

Also using KAS and Quantum Struts mods, I am trying to build a reusable lander to get some bits from my orbital stations down to the ground.

I fooled around a bit with aviation, but I find it really hard to balance the plane properly. Flip of doom galore. Would a controller/joystick make flying easier?

Welcome deepsheep! with planes just make sure you have enough power if you're doing high g maneuvers! otherwise, make a small course change, then toggle ASAS. A few seconds locked into that heading and you should see your prograde marker move with you. Good luck!

I've just been learning to land shuttles, so if these are things you're making yourself, try to keep the centre of mass in front of the center of lift by a little bit. My adivce is that the further behind the COM you put the COL, the more stable it is, yet it is harder to manoeuvre. The further in front it is, the more manoeuvrable it is, but it won't stay on course as easy.

I landed this with a keyboard, but I imagine using a joystick does give smother control.

As a long time player of KSP, I can highly recommended a Joystick as a worthy accessory.

Also consider a Trackball mouse, to compliment the joystick. Nothing worse than your right hand piloting the craft, an your left hand unable to move the camera.
