Sound modding

So I wanted to mod the sounds for KSP but I have no idea how, I tried replacing the sound files in the sound folder under the main directory but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know how to mod sounds? Or a link with a tutorial for it?

Nobody's really messed about with modifying the asset files yet, squad hasn't released tools to open them and they're supposedly specific to the version of unity of the current build of the game (although how specific I don't know).

As a workaround, you should be able to write a plugin that changes the sound files you're interested in though.

This would be cool. Whilst the built-in rocket engine sounds are great, the larger rocket engines could really benefit from some beefy rumbly noise.

Meh, I wanted to do the same thing using some real launch sounds. (Been watching a few shuttle launch videos lately and there's some good sounds available).
