MechJeb Pod Question

I've been loving my MechJeb (not just the functionality, but the look of the different modules as well) but I have a big question. For some reason recently whenever I am ascending from Kerbin and I hit the 13km mark MechJeb seems to break and, depending on the module, panels break off and sparks start flying out. I can't find what seems to cause this, any ideas?

"seems to break" isn't a very useful bug report.

The rest sounds like you're going fast and experiencing atmospheric thermal/drag symptoms.

On the conical mechjeb pod, there are four panels that pop off at around that 13k mark. On the cylindrical mechjeb pod there are also four panels but they don't pop off, they just open up. On both modules there are sparks they fly out when this happens. When it does happen, mechjeb loses control for a brief moment and the ship spins wildly out of control, but mechjeb does regain control after a couple seconds. This is an intened feature and not a bug as there are animations for it and everything, I just want to know if anyone knows what causes it because there isn't anything I can find on the MechJeb resources that says what causes sit.
