Fancy Seeing You Here

I'm Indigo. I picked up KSP during the Steam summer sale, and I have to say, I've sunken a lot of time into the game so far. I look forward to being an active part of this community! Quick question--what's a generally good way to offset rocket topheavy-ness? While trying to launch the second part of my space station, my rocket keels over while initiating it's gravity turn. I do in fact use MechJeb, because I'm god-awful at flying rockets without it. What's a good method to solve my problem? Should I add more struts to the bottom? Thanks in advance!

Welcome and for the top heavy rockets try to lower the load and launch multiple pieces, or... MOAR STRUTS! Lastly... Bigger rocket with more struts. Struts will be you best freind along with booster rockets. Hope this helps! Happy launching! :D

If in desperate need of more weight, there are weight packs available to download on spaceport.

Useful for giving vehicles a lower center of mass, and balancing your more, uh, imaginative creations.

But, how many pods or cores do you have on your station/rocket? They give torque, with is useful for controlling big rockets when they are not in atmosphere. Perhaps add on a few more probe cores for extra torque to a few boosters. '

Disabling the gimballing on some engines before launch also can help, especially with mechjeb, or the current ASAS.

This had five engines on the first stage, but the outer four were all switched of, otherwise the whole thing would swing like crazy. If your rocket is pretty tall, it could be the problem.

Ah...it never even occurred to me that more cores/pods=more torque. And the gimball-locking method is interesting as well. In any case, my space station is now functional, thanks to some more struts, even if it is more accurately just a bunch of rockets docked together in the middle. Thanks!
