Distress Call -

After months of planing and some editing later, I present to you a brand new YouTube adventure.

The Ships (check it out) -

Debut Trailer (check it out) -

(The video above provides an exciting glimpse into the new space drama)

What Is Distress Call? -

Distress Call would mark my vary first attempt at developing a feature series.

It works by capturing a sense of mystery, suspense, isolation, desperation, bravery, fear, hopelessness and other emotions into one compelling space epic.

An important facet, Distress Call is about the human condition and how those qualities interact to generate a captivating show.

The Trailer -

The scene depicts a scenario most would fear: Alone in the depths of space. Away from all things familiar. The crew of the reconnaissance vessel in-orbit around one of the moons of Jool send out a distress call. As to why they've done such a thing remains a mystery.

Communications are severed as they enter the dark side of Lathe. Coincidentally, a second vessel is about to enter the Jool system. The mission commander, without authorization, due to communication lag, orders the pilot to preform a course correction for a Lathe capture. However, something unexpected happened.

As the distance between them and Lathe become closer, without warning nor explanation, began experiencing technical disruptions which places the crew in serious jeopardy.

An Insiders Look Into Ship Design -

Throughout the show, I plan to implement a number of element's in-order to enhance the viewers experience. I plan to incorporate the use of the following: orbital satellites, stations, dry docks, vehicles (both manned and unmanned), refueling depots, etc.

The images below represent a small sample of planed designs Distress Call will implement.

Note: (some designs are subject to change)

During the planing stage, I drew up inspiration from many different reference materials that I could find. Here is one of the many ship designs Distress Call will have.

Orbital Dry Dock

Planed Music -

Distress Call will implement a variety of artists.

Note: (I'm in the process of obtaining music rights/permission)

User Created Content/Mods -

I began work on Distress Call months prior to the release of Kerbal Space Program Version.20.

In-order to develop some of the design elements, I needed to employ the use of user created content.

Ambition -

As I stated before, Distress Call is my vary first attempt in generating a feature series.

It is my ambition to develop it into a full YouTube series.

Will it have something like the United Federation of Planets in it, from Star trek.

So that's what that means (dunce hat for me). The best answer, for the moment, is that the show will have an established story element built into it. Suffice it to say, Distress Call will have space stations, space dock's, satellites and an assortment of different space crafts.

I just watched Episode 1. Looks pretty good, but I just have two critiques:

One, you may need a small amount of dialogue or subtitles to clarify your narrative. For the first several minutes, I did not have a clear idea of what was happening.

Two, many of the shots are way too dark. There is a mod available that adds a small amount of ambient light to the game. You should check it out.

One additional suggestion: if you're not already using it, KerbCam is an excellent tool for creating professional looking cinematics.

Looking forward to your next episode.
