Undocking Magnets?

When I want to re-position a certain module so that it looks more symmetrical I try to re dock but the magnets don't re-couple for a while. I was wondering if there was a "Cool Down Period" for the magnets or that it can't be re attached to the port it was just joined with for a certain period of time.

It does this just in case you are undocking and haven't moved away far enough. Just incase you had 5 orange tanks stacked together with only 8 RCS ports.

This is what I do as a workaround:

1) undock section you want to adjust

2) let section drift a short (~3m) distance away

3) quickly switch to space center, then back to the module you want to adjust

4) proceed to dock at leisure, now with magnets enabled
