Why are Kerbals born with helmets?

Why is it that Kerbals are born with such helmets, maybe its because there are some non lethal yet horrific side effects of being exposed to the vacuum of space such as redness of the eyes and yellowing of the skin.

Well, Kerbal's aren't born with helmets, or space suits. you can see the ground crews in the Vehicle Assembly Building, and the SpacePlane Hanger without the suits.

Im sorry to tell you but when a baby kerbal is launched out of the womb all you see is a disgusting tiny creature in a simple extra vehicular activity (E.V.A.) suit just open your eyes.
