Heaviest Space Plane to land on Duna

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this challenge has been done before, but I've been fascinated with Duna lately and stalked these forums long enough. So hello everyone, Rockytop here... nice to meet you. Challenge is simple... who can land the heaviest space plane on Duna.

Rules:

Horizontal take off

Horizontal landing

All stock parts.

Mechjeb allowed.

All parts that you start with must remain on your ship throughout the entire flight. No disconnecting any parts during flight.

Jet engines are allowed.

No parachutes!

No engines pointed vertically... (basically point your main engines horizontally)

Props if your plane can take off from duna and come back to land at Kerbin.

Regular Ranking system based on weight of craft once it lands on Duna.

Secondary Ranking system based on weight of craft once it lands on Kerbin if you are so inclined.

I realize I am new to the forum, but I have done this before on Duna, never taken pictures though... gonna try out a new design and see if I can land it today.

Ranking:

Weight on Landing/Name

1) 12.34 tons - Rockytop00

FTFY, still pretty difficult though.

I wouldn't post a challenge that you aren't capable of, a lot of times people post challenges with their entry.

I see your new here, welcome.

Wow, Duna got hillier since the last update! But here is the proof that you can still land space planes on Duna... you just have to get your speed even slower than before.
