A single prototype Dominator class battleship responds to the engagement, pulling up along side the Thraben and firing a volley of 6 rockets:

The volley hits hard and splits the Thraben into sections:

The Thraben itself has been reduced to just its seed part, the probe (i.e. she's dead but you can still reload surviving ships off her remains):

Edit: The ships are still way too close together so if you get lag issues, feel free to hyperedit one of the corvettes 2.5km away (the game will treat it as a single object at that range).

your persistence file shows the Thraben intact.....

but interestingly, when I tried simulating your attack, the Thraben suffered no damage at all, not even the loss of a single armour plate

The damage seems superficial. This is why I built two nacelles.

Bk3p4jB.jpg

The main engines just pushed it in a circle, so I switched to using the retro-rocket since it's in the middle. It turns out, the fighter destroyed the reaction wheels, making the Triton unfliable...

Barely managed to get the ship upright and land without killing any Kerbals.

Since I now only have one shot left (which would probably be lost next turn anyway) I declare probe-teK the winners!

@ Spearka:

Oops, my bad, the persist appears to have remained at the previous autosave, here's the correct one: http://www./?ik2eol3i7ymcl5s

A lot of people seem to have trouble with girder rockets, I can repeat the move again if you would like.

I think you replied a bit too late, i made my move with the following scenarios considered, i terminated the Thrabens flight and let loose the dominators allocated volleys

after Hyperediting one of the Griselbrands exactly 2.5km away from the dominator, it releases one of the Bol-class missiles

GxttBm1.jpg

After carefully aligning, it begins to accelerate to its target

C3DnK17.jpg

the lag begins to get a bit messy, course corrections are getting piss-hard...

291uQVI.jpg

and it misses narrowly, fortunately, it has enough fuel and power to go for another try

NcCTvWG.jpg

by the time it is headed back toward the Dominator, it now has an extra kilometer to travel than before (i set it to fullscreen and lowered the settings here to further counter the lag

GxttBm1.jpg

a while later, it looks promising as the Dominator gets ever nearer

innCToP.jpg

yep, that just happened, in the later stages, the game became a slideshow despite the countermeasures taken

MLdksgW.jpg?1

as seen above, the missile landed a direct hit on the Dominator, shattering the battleship like glass

Ouch...

P.S.i know it looks a bit unfair trying again, but when I first made these Bol-class cruise missiles, they were designed to fight ships moon-to-moon (and that was 2 months ago in reaction to Maceys submission vid, you can still see the ASAS modules on the Bol missiles)

I didn't even notice the reaction wheels I was really worried.

Things I hath learned.

-Bayonet has attachment issues.

-Cutlass could do with buffed RCS.

-I should leave debris on.

lol, mind if I have the persist to survey the damage?

sure, just bear in mind that only before exiting ksp did i actually set a debris count so not all of the remains are visible, sorry

thinking about it, with corvettes like the Griselbrand able to smite battleships in one shot, do I even need the Thrabens Damnation missiles?, or even the Thraben as a whole?!

i think i should make some changes to it

also, looking back to the fight, while I did make tests with the Bol-class missile with interesting effects, i never tried going at a target that far before

you realise you managed to hit the seed part from 3km away and the delta time frame placed the missile speared right through it... happens sometimes but i wouldn't count on it.

I didn't know that, but then again the game was a slideshow so it might happen more often on my side

have a free Griselbrand craft file ^^

Edit: it might not actually have been on the seed part, looking closely, it looks like it landed a nudge behind it

I definitely need to decentralize ship systems more, reduce part clipping, and make weapons modular.

What you said about the tonnage and amount of ships. Maybe the fight could be around pol. Do you care if the ships are legitimately capable of reaching a planet?

not really; in a real war there would be fuel depots all over the place.

You set up first, and I fire first?
