Episode 6 : A Cosmic Clock

I'm changing this thread to my "Fun With Orbits" series.

Find the playlist here:

Episode 1 is about Molniya Constellation

The original thread was about what is now Ep.4 - GPS - GALILEO - GLONASS constellations

Episode 5 : Fibonacci sequence...in space!

Episode 6 : A Cosmic Clock

---

Took a bit of time, 'cause ,you know, there's 75 satellites now up there making sure no Kerbals will ever lost his way again! :D

I'll probably make a "behind the scene" / how-to video with all the maths, the parameters and everything, but I have a metric ton of footage to edit...

In the meantime, feel free to ask if you want any info.

Anyway...hope you enjoyed it!

Two posts, and already you have contributed something more awesome to the forums than I have spawned in my entire time as a KSP player. :D

If you managed to set that up in vanilla KSP (especially GALILEO), then I want a behind the scenes video more than a fat kid wants cake.

Thanks man.

Well, I'm using Mechjeb, but I think you can fly by hand. The hard part is the timing I guess if you don't have Mechjeb to display the Universal time. And it's tedious, so you'll have to be very patient!

Otherwise, it's all stock parts (as of 0.21) - but that also means that the sats are of no real practical use ;-) . Let's say we're doing it for the art!

BTW - I only registered on the forum recently, but I'm playing ksp for a few months now. And far too many hours, I'm afraid.

  • 2 weeks later...

And....I'm back, with Episode 5

This time with something really fancy, yet very simple: A Fibonacci sequence constellation.

Here's the animated video:

I really dig how it screws up the perspective - all the orbits have a 0° inclination, yet it seems to be a 3D spiraling thingy.:D

I'm always looking for some ideas for some Fun With Orbits, so feel free to add your comments!

And now, for something completely ...well, not so different.

In episode 6 of Fun With Orbits, I've decided to build...a clock!

A Cosmic Clock.

It is working, you can use for, well, anything that you would use a clock for.

Except, it is not that accurate :P

Enjoy
