IPTHV 'Onion' Mission Report

CLASSIFIED

  • I cant believe it. They said they wouldn’t do it Bill. They assured us they wouldnt!
  • But they did. They've triple checked everything, It will be fine.
  • It wont Bill! The IPTHV was supposed to be an elegant science vessel. Not a barbaric metal tin!
  • You would have been fine with it 5 years ago.
  • Five years ago! Is that it! You think that I because I was a new astronaut I would have agreed with anything?
  • I'm just saying there is no reason to worry. It's all checked out with the techs, and the bosses gave it the Go-Ahead.
  • The Bosses came up with it in the first place! I'm telling you, there is something wrong going on. To slowly but surely develop a sound vessel over several years, then decide suddenly that you have 40 days to complete it. They didn’t even bring a Kethane miner!
  • The new propulsion system is efficient enough get us there and back without the need for refuelling. Besides, you cant exactly run it off Kethane can you?
  • What about Laythe? We don’t have a Laythe lander now do we?
  • The Laythe lander would have taken up precious research and development time, not to mention the construction.
  • Exactly! We had years to do this sort of stuff! But suddenly * poof * out the window? I tell you they found something. They need to get us there as soon as possible.
  • This isnt like you Jeb. You've always been a bit of a badboy, but to question KASA? This is a bit to far.
  • Well being told you're going to launched to the outer solar system on a tin can propelled by Blutonium bombs can do that to you!
  • ...
    screenshot47.png
  • Look at it. Doesn’t exactly look like the pinnacle of modern technology does it Bill?
  • Lets just go over the crew roster Jeb. We have a lot of briefing papers to read.
  • Fine.

IPTHV Crew Roster

Jebediah Kerman: Captain of IPTHV and Pilot

Bill Kerman: IPTHV Pilot

Bob Kerman: Mission Astrophysicist

Patsby Kerman: Jool System Expert

Phil Kerman: Lander 1 Pilot

Gregvin Kerman: Lander 1 Co-Pilot

Obnand Kerman: Lander 2 Pilot

Melnand Kerman: Lander 2 Co-Pilot

Robald Kerman: Lander 3 Pilot

Hans Kerman: Lander 3 Co-Pilot

    • Bill, what is the purpose of the fourth lander?
    • If you would be patient, it says here on the mission plan: 'The fourth lander serves as a rescue vessel, Incase of failure of Landers 1-3'.
    • So they packed a separate lander 'Just incase the other one breaks'?
    • Whoa. Calm down Jeb.
    • Sorry. Just a little tense.

Congratulations! You made it this far through the horrific formatting! I started this in LibreOffice writer, for ease of saving and such, however with the way these tables are turning out it isnt worth it! I may just write straight into the editor, then copy to a document. Here is just some notes from me about the vessel and mods I use.

I mentioned the Magenta Lasers earlier and will explain here. Each lander is powered by two LVN's as conventional engines, but the special thing about them is the underside. Each lander has 8 magenta lasers facing downwards which, incase you didn't known, provide HOVER THRUST! They *should* allow me to float towards the surface, and then takeoff from a few kilometers up, without even igniting my engines! In theory. Should be a piece of cake on Bop and Pol. Not so sure about Vall.

Also if you see any writing errors or just 'not right' bits, please tell me. I dont normally write and it isnt exactly my thing, but was making up stories to go with this mission from the start. And yes, this takes many cues from czokletmuss's first story. I am working on cleaning up the page as well, I mentioned before about formatting.

I KNOW THE TITLE SAYS ONION. YOU WILL FIND OUT LATER. :P

Firstly, the InterPlanetary Transport and Habitation Vehicle (IPTHV) uses several mods not only for parts but also several for construction as well.

I've used FusTek Munox, K1 truss and Karmony nodes, all very awesome.

Kosmos Balka Solar wings, as you have yet to see deployed in all their glory. Also a few 1-2m adapters, as they are shorter than stock ones.

And of course the key to it all, the ship and the story, Nyrath's Orion engine! This thing is crazy. You can tell from the second picture just how big it is. Its bigger than the rest of the ship! Also crew are not happy carrying 600 nuclear bombs with them either.

The very handy Subassembly manager and also RCS blancer, both excellent tools in the VAB.

Kerbal Alarm Clock will keep me on time for my everythings as well.

Beneath it all is Romfarers Lazor mod, keeping the IPHTV running.

I didnt want to do this but... MechJeb. I've got nothing against it, or the people who use it, I just hope I don't start using it. I did before and it all went downhill. I can't fly this thing properly anyway.
