Minimum distance (or time) for docking force to reset after undocking?

Does anyone here know what is the minimum distance (Or time, if that's how it works) required until the docking force resets after you un-dock, so you can re-dock with the craft?

yes, it's a matter of distance: I don't have a precise number, but it shouldn't be more than 4 or 5 meters.

When I was realigning some of the modules on my space station, I would undock and make my adjustments, transfer to the space center, and then reload the vessel. The vessel would then immediately dock without any chance of missing. I've used this method at least a dozen times. It takes some patience with the loading times but it is reliable.

I have found that if you move away from the disconnected item, for about 1 second and a disance of about 5 meters, then then you come back into reconnect, then you will find that docks will work.
