Airstrips on other planets

seems like something that would already have been suggested but i couldnt find it anywhere here.

it would be handy if we could build airstrips on other planets for those planets with atmosphere and heavier gravity for jet powered planes not based on kerbal. i havent built one yet but i can certainly see a long-range multi-stage rocket that ends with a jet powered plane.

perhaps this could be linked somehow to mined resources that can be used for airstrip construction.

Hooligan labs launchpads. It's fully compatible with extraplanetary launchpads but I think it works standalone (they just serve landing function then). This mod does just that. Use in conjunction with extraplanetary launchpads to build and launch planes and rockets on other planet bases.

Eve and Duna have no oxygen on their atmospheres. Did you even try?

(The only jet engine you can use is the one from the Kethane pack. Stock jets need oxygen to function.)

Who said you can't land a plane without jets? America did it, and I think the Russia did it once as well, I know Germany did it in WWII as well.

I could see this as something for career mode, whereby late in the game your previously placed colony builds an airstrip that you can use to land planes on, and it acts just lake the runway.

He's talking about using the jet engines. Sure, most of us have glide-landed on those planets, but you can't take off unless using rockets.

Have you heard of propellers? They do this nifty thing where you can use them in any atmosphere regardless of whether it has oxygen or not. And spaceplanes with a LVN on Duna work pretty well.

Laythe is the only place to use jet engines.

Nobody mentioned propellers.
