mechanical arm moving Parts to help to build a crane/Arm

Recommended Posts

I am trying to build a mechanical arm to retrofit onto a moving platform on mun, as I have discovered that the location I have landed is not flat,

I have tried to use the Romfarer_RoboticArmsPack_v29, but I discovered that it didn’t have the liftijng power to lift the mun module of the ground.

What I would like to do is build my own, and fix some moving parts, like ball joints, and arms so that I can create the arm, so that I am able to move and twist my modules into place

Is there any MODS out there that will do this, I did see a moving part on a YouTube “Constellation†were I go the idea from.

Hi Helix

I tried the listed mods, but I am having issues getting them to work. I tried the Damned robotics and none of the mods was listed in my KSP 20.1version.

the Infernal Robotics I all ready tried and discovered that it is for space only, and the Dromoman mod just crash's. frustrating as hell

There is a bit of a problem with damned robotics at the moment.

You need infernal to get it to run, at least the plugin. You also need to go and make sure all the parts have PART { at the top of the file, and } at the bottom.

This crane was made using the docking port disk from Infernal Robotics. I had no issues installing this for .21. I am not sure exactly how much force these disk can provide but the rover hanging off the boom is 5 tons.

the problem I have is that the Module I would like to move has no command module which would allow me lower or raise the legs, this is why I was thinking about having a moving arm with a Docking port at the end that would allow me to lower and then connect to the module and then lift the module up in a controlled way so that I can move it and lower it back down in to the right place.

@Rhynix. This is were I saw the mod, and liked the idea of having the moving parts.

@NoMrBond. when I install the mod, I don't get the Forked option, which Ithrough would be a good idea, so that I would be able to lift the whole module.

back to the drawing Board for me

Infernal Robotics is a fork (with permission) of the Damned Robotics plugin, which Sirkut has updated to work with 0.21.

You can use the MSI/IR plugin to make the DR parts work.

Install the DR parts (but delete the DR plugin), wrap the DR parts with PART{}, install MSI/IR and the DR parts should also work with the latest version of the game

The main problem that i see is installing a whole bunch of mods and then having to scrap half of your ships because couple of the mods dont work in the next update. My buddy lost his entire space station due to mechjeb in .21.
