jdsutton
It'd be nice to be able to lay out an entire mission before launching. Maybe in the mission control building players could set up a series of maneuvers for a flight, look at dV required, time the launch window, etc. Custom "events" could be placed along the flight path to add detail to the mission as well. Just small notes like "Collect data", "Explore crater", or "Experience a malfunction".
quietsamurai98
I approve, but what would happen if there was some sort of failure/mistake that caused the ship to not be on the flight plan's path?
jdsutton
If you mess the mission up you could either revert to launch as normal, alter the maneuver nodes and try to correct your error, or just give up on the objective and improvise something else. Beeman
There was a discussion or two regarding the mission control building recently and some of the suggestions involved pre-planning flights using the maneuver node system. There was even someone suggesting a chalkboard for the mission control room where you draw out flight plans, just to help yourself brainstorming things. But yeah, it'd definitely be cool to lay out flight plans before launch, maybe utilizing a countdown timer to get all precise with some tasks. You'd still be able to mess them up, though, if you missed your burns, turns and whatever else typically goes wrong. So it's a really good suggestion for KSP. Supernovy
Flight planning is actually on the Planned Features list. Hopefully it'll come sooner rather than later with the development of career mode.Since this is a planned feature, thread locked. Have a nice day.
