Hi I have tried the demo and it was good all my children like it so I purchased the full copy.

I have installed it and it works ok on our 10+ year old machines!

But I cannot find any help files or instructions on how to play and what all the extra items do or how to use them. Eg set target, add maneuver? Etc can someone help me and tell me where the user info is hiding; I have been looking on the web site but am unable to find it.

Thanks

By the way my children are aged 5, 8 and 9y I am a little bit older than that low.

Sorry to be a bit thick!:)

Being an alpha, there are no instructions. You can play the tutorial built in but you are better off to go to the WIKI site where you can find keyboard maps, parts charts, and other information. The Drawing Board is a good location to start; http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/28352-The-Drawing-Board-A-library-of-tutorials-and-other-useful-information

The KSP WIKI; http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Main_Page Here you will find info on flight, the keyboard commands, parts, and lots of other useful information.

Hi Backau, I started in the same boat a few months back, now I've been to the moon and back and building space stations around Kerbin and the Mun. Where did I learn? Youtube! If you search for Scott Manley, he has a few excellent tutorials for beginners and that's where I learned what I know. There's a couple of others I subscribe to as well but I can't remember their names. Basically if you just search Youtube for KSP tutorials, you'll find a welath of knowledge.

If you're interested in designing ultra-efficient rockets and such, I would learn all the math involved. Not how to do the math but just what it means. There are plugins that can do it for you and they are fairly easy to install. There is an autopilot plugin called MechJeb that calculates that stuff and flies your rocket for you, but I personally recommend Kerbal Engineer Redux.

Good luck!

Ok I think I have done something wrong! I have added the following add-ons

Editor Extentions

Subassembly Manager v0.1.3

MechJeb 1.9.8

Munar Excursion Module (MEM) v3.1.1

Easy Spacestation

FusTek Station Parts Expansion

UIPAP Voyager

Space 1999 Meta Probe .191

The program will load and open I can look around at all the new parts I have to work with for a short time then it locks up and I get an error message saying I have too many parts loaded?

Is there a limit to the number of add-ons and parts that can be added?

For someone new to the game you have certainly dived into the deep end of mods. Nothing wrong with that of course, but you should probably remove half those mods and see if you still have an issue. You'll then be able to work out what your system is comfortable with.

I don't know if there is a limit on parts or add-ons as I try to use as little as possible. With your list above, MechJeb 2.0.9 is available and I'm not sure if 1.9.8 even works. Subassembly manager is largely stable but not necessary for newbies. All the other mods are parts so - while you can use them if you like - it might be best to experience the 'vanilla' KSP game before jumping into extra parts. :)

Additionally, if you find some things really hard, you could try mechjeb2. Now, i'm not talking about it's auto pilot, im talking about things like smart A.S.S, maneuver node helper (can't remember what it's called, but adds precision to maneuver nodes), warp helper, rendezvous helper, vessel info, aerodynamics info (you have to make it yourself through the custom window maker), delta-V stats, surface info, orbital info, and so on, there's no shame in using mechjeb, even Scott Manley uses it, as for planetary transfers, mechjeb2 doesn't help except for making a node, for that you need protractor, wich also helps alot with planetary transfers, with all of these tools, building optimised craft is easier, getting into orbit is reasonably difficult, landing no longer a guessing game, no more time warping across your target, interplanetary transfers not a guessing game about angles, and so on.
