Rename things that are not "struts"

So, there are all of those truss parts that have the word "strut" in their name (eg "cubic octagonal strut").

The word strut has a very specific meaning, that involves being attached to two objects, and keeping them stationary with respect to each other (like the original "structural strut" does)

I propose that the parts in question be renamed to be either "truss" or "girder", to more accurately reflect what they actually are.

So, no. The parts are struts, in defintion.

This isn't something that really bothers me, but I'd be totally okay with it if they renamed those parts to truss or girder. Maybe have both, girders being from a different manufacturer with a slightly different style. Maybe have the hollow frameworky bits be trusses and then have a set of girders which are solid(maybe more narrow, as well).

But Canadian, that's referring to the individual bars in the structure, the truss is made of struts.
