It works fine. What's the problem?

Not the dev build lol. Its got all kinds of memory issues.

I have heard the 3.something build is stable but meh...using Figaro now.

Try looking at the ISA dev's blog. I know he was making posts there after he stopped in the actual thread.

It allows you to build a GPS network, which you can then use to tell you where you are on the planet's surface and what heading you need to go to a specified location. It's not that useful without a map, though, otherwise you won't know the coordinates of the spot you want to go! You heard wrong. Mapsat scans the actual surface; there is no pre-generated map. You just need to rebuild hilo.dat so it knows the correct maximum and minimum heights; instructions have been posted on the Mapsat thread.

It seems to be far less of a resource hog with .21 than it did for .20. Your mileage may vary.

Yea I have noticed that if you go into the mapsat UI and turn mapping off nothing seams to be running at all. So its very controllable. Besides when I am mapping I usually turn it on, time warp to 10x, got to work, come home to a completed map.

I think someone should make a new, completely fresh mod that does this in a similar manner. Its been along time since Innsewerants has been active and hope that they are ok. Im no programmer so I would have no idea where/how to start something that Im sure is pretty complex.

I'm having lots of problems running it on OSX and 0.21. The frame rate drops every second, like the game has hiccups and when I get over ~7Km the framerate is at about 5fps or so. Really, really laggy this dev build.

I'm giving up on it now and my space program will have to wait untill the technology is available :P. Then I may send some new probes to map those unknown space bodies.

Try turning mapping off while accelerating, especially during launch. It can't be easy for the plug-in to figure out what to map while you're changing your course with huge rockets...
