cant remove mods

hey all, i'm just wondering if someone could give me a bit of assistance, i've currently installed a few mods on KSP and cant seem to remove them, I've tried things like deleting local content and verifying game cache but everytime i redownload KSP (from steam) the mods seem to be back in. I don't really want to delete them one by one as its all over the place and i don't want to delete something i shouldn't.

I seem to be having a mod-related problem as well. Windows is stating that I cannot remove any mods due to the fact that somehow, KSP.exe is using them while KSP is closed according to everything else. Could someone please help?
