From weapons specialist to rocket scientest A journal.

I've been dicking around with KSP since it's early days. Most of my rockets couldn't get away from their ICBM origins. This is my log of my misadventures aimed at getting into orbit and beyond.

My list of goals are divided into stages.

Stage 1

1. Get a satellite into orbit.

2. Send unmanned missions to moon orbit and return.

3. Deploy dual probes to orbit monn and have one crash into moon.

Stage 2

1. Send manned missions into orbit.

2. Deploy unmanned missions to set up moon base.

3 Begin setting up space station.

Stage 3

1. Begin testing of unmanned interplanetary probes.

2. Attempt orbit of other planets.

3. Have probes repeat moon experiment. (the crashing idea is from Ebb and flow.)

Stage 4

1. Being setting up bases on what planets I can.

Other misc thing to say.

I'm not using mods. If I find a few that I like I'll probably edit these goals.

On that note I'd appreciate a few suggestions.

Aside from Mech jeb, kethane and Extraplanetary Launchpads I don't know what else I want.

and finally I do know a bit more than what I am going to be letting on. Playing dumb at times it enjoyable.

Now that that's done let us being.

Entry 1.

So I loaded up KSP V.21 with the intent of playing seriously. My first goals are to get an unmanned satellite into space and into an orbit. So I started on my first rocket space probe test Mk1.

As you can see I decided to go with a four engine design spacecraft. Why? Because I could that's why. my initial flight tests yielded a few interesting results Running this rocket like a bat out of hell indicates that it can achieve orbit. I just have to work on my fine control.

Where as being conservative and attempting to use maneuver nods makes it more difficult.

I didn't get orbit either attempt.

So after careful consideration I have two choices, study orbital and rocket science and create a proper mission plan or More power. (Grunt grunt grunt.)

After more consideration I chose the obvious one.

Notice the sepratrons? I believe firing them at the correct (best guess) time will give me orbit.

I have to work out my image hosting problem and I have to be up for 6AM tomorrow to go to work. Submitting this as I did put a bit of time into writing it.
