Give your kerbal a boost

This challange is all about speed! As is with many kerbal missions, unforseen explosions have left your kerbal on a sub-orbital trajectory around kerbin with no engines and/or no fuel left, and we forgot the jetpacks, of course. So you need to launch a second mission to save the poor kerbal from "not a very nice time". If all goes well your kerbal(s) will be having lots of fun in a safe orbit above kerbin's atmosphere.

Odjective:

1) Launch a rocket (must be manned), the apoapsis of this craft can be as high as you like (Lower first apoapsis=higher rank), the periapsis must not come above the ground.

2) Make sure there is no fuel left or no engines, on the ship. (Pictures of ship and apoapsis)

3) Launch a second rocket (can be unmanned or manned) to catch up with the first rocket and dock with it.

4) Once the two have dock use the engines from the second rocket to put both craft in a safe orbit above the atmosphere.

Rules:

Stock Only

No config edits

No infiteglide craft

If the craft drop below 70km then you have failed.

Cutting this one a bit close.

Ranking:

If you successfully complete a the mission you score is deterrined by the apoapsis of the first rocket you launched. This is of course becuase you'll have less time to save the target ship.

Basically, the mission goes like the following?

  1. Wait so you meet up with your Low Kerbin Orbit Fuel Depot after exiting atmosphere.
  2. Launch!
  3. Begin G-Turn at 10km.
  4. Burn until Ap. is about 100km.
  5. Maintain Ap. of about 100km.
  6. Safety Check! Everything is all good? Good!
  7. At 69km, cut engines, warp untill rendezvous with the LKOFD at Ap. of 100km.
  8. Realize you miscalculated the launch timing so that you rendezvous with the LKOFD. Again.
  9. Desperately try to use whatever fumes are left in the liquid fuel tanks and some RCS to avoid crashing.
  10. Fail.
  11. Send Bill to save Jebediah's psychotic butt by sending him up too, see steps 1-7, only to rendezvous with Jeb.
  12. Dock with Jeb's ship.
  13. Desperately try to make a ship that weighs hundreds of tonnes that's falling straight down go sideways.
  14. Succeed.

If that's what you mean, then, thats roughly what happens every other time I try to rendezvous with my LKOFD. :P

I have trouble planning ahead, and it shows in the VAB.
