how to handle crossfeed of monoprop and electrical power?

Recommended Posts

Hi Kerbals,

I think you all know the situation, after staging you are in a spacecraft with no electricity and no monoprop, and you have staged a big full battery and a huge full monoprop tank and its floating away....

How I can prevent this without clicking on every tank seperatly. I hoped I could find something in the actiongroups, but didn't

Cheers

short answer : you can't block crossfeed of monopropellant / battery power.

long answer : monopropellant, xenon gas, electricity and air intakes are shared through the whole craft - they will be used up all at the same time unless you clic on the fuel tank and clic on the little green arrow to prevent the use of the resource.

You may be interested in this mod, which I believe can handle this in a number of ways. I'm just going from the description at the moment though, I'm afraid.... haven't gotten around to installing it yet. Something for me to do later today... TAC-Fuel Balancer

no recovery for this as you have staged your battery and tank away so unless it is part of another ship should it not be classed as debris now. I would suggest to place your mono tank and battery above the parts that you needed to stage once in space so your mono and battery remain part of your craft. As Sgt Flyer pointed out mono, xenon, battery and air are shared throughout the craft (no need to place fuel lines) if you have staged them away then you won't be able to recover.

Fuel, propellant, will be used from the topmost tank on down unless you right click and disable the tank with a right click on the green triangle to change it into a no symbol. Don't know about electricity but one could run a test to see which battery system is drained first.

This is incorrect when dealing with monoprop and batteries. monoprop tanks and batteries drain at equal amounts on your ship with (obviously) the smaller tanks/batteries running out first. You can deactivate the tanks/batteries as you describe.

In case you have parts clipped into your rocket and are unable to click on them in flight, go up to the resources tab and click on the selected resource. This will allow you to disable tanks/batteries as you deem fit.
