Hey,

I really want to play KSP, but do not have the computer requirements necessary to play. I really do love the game and need to acquire a cheap, good laptop for the game. Any recommendations? (Also, my budget is 680$, but I can go 10$ higher.)

Also, it would help if the laptop could play an undemanding game such as papers, please, but just KSP at a good fps would be fine.

Thanks,

680-690$ should be plenty enough for a laptop that is KSP capable. hell, i bought mine in 2011 for 500$ and it can run it just fine. If you want to be primarily playing KSP, get one with a really good CPU (one with really fast INDIVIDUAL cores, a multicore processor would not be well utilized with he current state of the game), and skimp out on the GPU. if you plan to be playing other games as well (and with 680$ you should be able to get a machine that can play most games at low graphics settings at LEAST), get one with a decent GPU, preferably dedicated and not integrated.

if you are not committed to laptop, a 680$ desktop would (of course) be a much better option in terms of performance. if mobility is absolutely required for your specific case, however, then go laptop obviously

Toshiba makes decent triple and quad core laptops with fair graphics capabilities. Also, they have many that fit your price point too.

dont go for the tri-quad-beyond processors. with KSP, a dual core setup would probably be most optimal.

oh, and does the 680$ budget include the price of KSP itself? because that'll drop you down to 660$, 610$ if your sales tax is like where i live.

KSP very unoptimized right now but 600-700 easily gets you a computer capable of at least playing and testing it. Just don't get your hopes up too much -- even on top of the line computers it runs terrible as soon as you start adding content to the active world (this is what is keeping me from playing even with a monster desktop). If you built your own desktop, 600 would get you a fantastic gaming computer, but for a laptop you won't get as much power. Shop around and make sure it has at least 8gb of memory and a good mobile gaming GPU.

No, the budget of the computer itself is 680$

I would really recommend getting a desktop for KSP and other gaming. Not only will you get alot more performance, but it is also cheaper and more reliable. A high end gaming laptop rarely last long due to heat.

You could even get a decent desktop and a cheap laptop for the same price as a half decent gaming laptop which is what I did.

Even the most high end laptops will never compare to a desktop since it is very demanding on cpu.

I have an old phenom 2 desktop and it still beats most so called budget gaming laptops even today.

Hard to say what you need. Most users have amazing game rigs. Newest from the newest. It's still lags. KSP is still a 32 bit program. Even with 16 or 32 gigabyte memory, you encounter memory problems, BECAUSE it only supports up to 3. something gigabyte. It doesn't fully support multi-core as well. Point is, right now, KSP is hard to handle even if you have the hardware in house that should run it smoothly no matter what. You still experience lag on any kind of machine. Even the newest 24 core CPU on the market for insteads. Simply because KSP almost run on one core entirely/not fully have the support to use the other onces as it should. To make a good choice, look at other things you need/want to do with it. KSP is involving as we speak, and therefor not a good reason to make your choices from..
