How Do you make a proper VTOL plane ?

My plane is not perfectly symmetrical but my thrust vector is directly in line with my center of mass, yet the plane is totally unstable when taking off. I've tried adding quite a few reaction wheels , but no luck :(. It's either the nose or the tail that refuse to lift ground.

If only we could adjust the front/back motors to different throttle levels it would be easier , is there any mods doing this ? or any other mod that helps in making/controling VTOL.
