What the challenge entails is that you must build a ship out of various components in-orbit (lander, drive, kethane miner, power array, etc.), the more components you have assembled into one vessel the higher your score. Then you must take that assembled ship and fly it to another planet, or multiple planets. You are limited to stock parts with a few exceptions: the Kethane pack, Quantum Struts, Fueltastic, and Mechjeb.

Remember: You're not building a space station, you're building a rocket that you'll have to take to another celestial body.
