Throttle Lock

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, just thought I'd share something I think would be useful to have.

It would be very nice if we could lock the throttle via action groups for certain engines so we can actively adjust the throttle on other engines without having to worry about those certain throttle locked engines.

For instance, say you have one main engine and four smaller engines around it. You press a button to lock the throttle on the center main engine so you can adjust the four outer engines without effecting the main engine's output.

I'm not sure if someone suggested this earlier or not, but I figured I'd post it anyway...

Oh, also this is my first post. I've stalked the forums for a very long time and figured I'd take some initiative and create a lil account. :)

Do you mean why it would be useful to have it ingame?

You could use it to balance an A-symmetrical craft.

I.E. a VTOL vehicle that is a bit unbalanced/unstable running all engines at the same level.

It could also be used to make odd looking ships if you find the right balance of throttle.

Honestly I believe we can find a number of possible uses for this feature if it were to be implemented into the core game.

However I just recently discovered a mod that does exactly what I described :P

Thanks for replying.

It could be used to throttle down an overheating engine, while keeping others on full thrust.

It could be used to balance burn times for different engines. Or, say, your rocket has a mainsail and some lv-30 engines which are more efficient, and at takeoff you'll want every Nm you can get but approaching terminal velocity it would make sense to throttle back just the lower isp mainsail.

I hope this gets implemented eventually, it should be a basic feature afterall. (has been suggested before btw)
