I'm sure it would be far more efficient to just recycle the plastic rather than using all that energy turning it back to oil, while elsewhere they are still turning oil into plastic, also using a load of energy.

I'm sure it would be better at the point where the plastic is melted to just turn it into pellets rather than waste the energy boiling it and cracking it to oil. I'm pretty sure 1 kg of pellets is worth more then 1 litre of oil, if it wasn't then they wouldn't make oil into plastic in the first place.

plastic can only be reused X times. then it is "useless". this can turn the unseable into usable oil "refreshing" it.
