the first episode went up last night

which is just the first mission in the first campaign, i'm going to use the first campaign as something along the lines of a pilot...getting everything standardized, building character profiles and just generally making it easier to produce.

If i have enough time pre 2nd campaign i would like to learn modeling and get mocap setup with my kinect because the paper kebals kinda bug me, modeling/animation is something i have been putting off learning for about 5-7 years because of how much there is to learn.

I'm not really sure where to start, i've heard 3dsmax a lot regarding animation but i haven't found any really great resources on it like there is for photoshop and after effects.

The interface looks quite a bit different than i'm used to so i might have to take a break between the first and 2nd campaign to dive in to that...we will see.

in the mean time i have 2 questions

is there a way to disable the pop out information window when you hover over an item in the VAB/SPH? (i had to mask 2 parts...which could eventually be more like 20)

and

what are you thoughts on the first episode? (bad transitions / incorrect facts / other discrepancies / what you would like to see / what you would do different)

if you want to interact with the characters they have twitter accounts that will have a bit of off screen dialogue (to further build the characters).

It looks pretty good, but my only problem is the lip sync (with the kerbals shown here)....

It's just sort of opening and closing it's mouth.

take this video for example.

The mouth also moves in from the sides when it opens, (and i know my animation isn't perfect...)

So what i think you could do to improve the kerbals mouth motions would be to mouth the words to yourself when animating them, and then shaping the mouths roughly how your mouth moves.

been working on new and different ways to edit, it really is a lot to do in a week, i am determined to find a way to cut down production time to 3 days though...i'm almost there now but i have lost a bit of oversight.

i got episode 3 up;

i was just barely able to get episode 4 up on schedule (i'm aiming for every saturday), i'm still working on making the process easier, ive been wanting to start refining some things lately such as the edges of the boxes and possibly give them texture...for abe this would be difficult.

i've had to stop myself from modeling a few times over the last few weeks, i have the workspace laid out and the kerbal image there, i just need to spline and such, then it will be bones and i should be able to use the kinect from there, but anyways i will save that for the break that i take between kampaigns.
