Part Sizes?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am playing around with making some parts (with no real idea what I am doing) and ran into a stumbling block. I need to know what the difference in sizes are between say, the three docking clamp diameters. You might suggest that I can just scale to fit after making my part, but in this case I am looking to model a part that goes from one size at one end to another at the other end, like the MK1-2 command pod, so the relative sizes have to be correct before I can do the final scale to fit the game.

I tried searching on the forum, but my search-fu is weak. Any help is appreciated.

That table is misleading and should be smote for it's crimes against knowledge.

In KSP 1 meter is 1 meter, the standard sizes are 0.625m, 1.25m, 2.5m, and 5m though it's rarely used.

1.25m parts are 1.25m, in the past KSP used a 1 meter doubling standard but you can't practically fit a Kerbal in a 1m cylinder so Squad made everything 25% larger, this did not change the size of a meter, it changed the size of the standard.

Make your parts in meter scale, and they should mate with steps on the doubling scale. If they are not made in meters they will not be the intended size in game, and if they do not match the steps they will not match anything in game.
