I'm also searching for such things. There are lots of large things you can download, but I need tiny stuff I can attach to probes.

The problem is - what could it be? KSP space doesn't offer much.

So far, the only thing I've found is MapSat and tek Industries Sample Return, something I still have to try out.

I'd like a decent camera that could be set to

, so I don't have to bother with aligning my view and pressing F1. I could just leave it do its job and later create a clip by importing the photos into some editor. It would be awesome if there was a system that could track the approaching target and direct the probe position towards the target, too. Basically what probes are meant to do.

Thanks for replying. Good to know I'm not the only who thinks the Science parts are just not enough.

Not nearly enough. I like to have a reason to go.

That telescope mod looks interesting! Thanks for the link!

IRL, probes and rovers collect data. In KSP, I guess they do, but basic stuff like whether or not it has an atmosphere, the gravity, that sort of thing.

It would be nice if science gets the same attention that career mode gets. In fact, specific discoveries could be integrated into career mode. Like Duna was once covered by oceans, or Vall's interior is liquid water. Discovering life or just the possibility of life could net prestige and money. I expect that things like that are somewhere on the horizon for Squad, but I think that the framework for how all of it operates is the most important thing right now.

Right now, there's just not that much to measure besides gravity, temperature and barometric pressure. Honestly, I'm not sure how much is even feasible given the size of the development staff. The science could be a mini-game unto itself. For me, the science is the reason to do any of this.

Well of course: NASA don't sent probes out to other planets for nothing, do they? :P

Maybe getting data gets your space program "respect", which is lost by crashes.
