How do i make an action group so that all my light arrays switch on at once?

I'm still not quite sure how to make one action group switch everything on.

You switch to action groups and then add all your lights one after the other, really simple.

Do i need to do anything like bind a key to them?

When you are in VAB, look up in middle of screen, you'll see something called Action Groups, press on it then a list of keys will show up, press on number 1, then press L-alt ( so you can choose multiple things ) after that, choose what you want to be enabled or turned on WHEN you press on THAT key.

When in VAB, open the AG tab(the blue gear button at the top of the screen), then select one of the bottom groups(these with numbers) and after that, click on your vehicle's lights one after another, each one will show you the option to turn on, turn off and toggle, which you click in order to add it to the group. After doing it for all the lights you want, save and launch. Now the number of the group you added them will do these actions when pressed(the number keys on top of your keyboard, not the numpad, 0 means 10th group). Sometimes you need to hold that key for a moment if your craft is so big everything lags. But for lights, you can simply use "U" or the yellowish button next to your altimeter to toggle all the lights at once, they get automatically assigned to this group during construction.

Also you may find it useful if you develop a 'standard' for your group action keys. I use 2 for lights, 3 for solar panels, 4 for ladders, and so on. That way, if you dock 2 different craft, they will both have the same action for each key.

For lights, there is already a 'lights' action group by default that is bound to 'U' or the lights button at the top of the UI.
