The IXV is a new, low-cost reusable spacecraft. This spacecraft can easily maneuver around Kerbin orbit.

Some organisations are planning to use it as a spy orbiter, other as a platform for instruments.

The IXV is designed to use it's orbital module for orbit circularisation and other maneuvers, it also provides solar power

and looks very neat.

It is launched atop an Ariane 5 rocket:

After the orbital module is jettisoned, the IXV is still fully functional, equipped with a fuel tank and 2 engines and an RCS system.

The orbiter then de-orbits and uses its heatshield for protection.

Unlike many spacecraft, the IXV is equipped with small elevon-and-rudder control surfaces for control during re-entry.

The orbiter then opens its parachutes to slow its speed.
