Center of Lift Weirdness.

Recommended Posts

I built an aircraft only to be used in the atmosphere, and I noticed an anomaly in the center of lift. As you can see in the screenshot, the CoL is rotated clockwise a few degrees around its vertical axis.

The craft was built with symmetry on, so I'm not sure what could've caused this. Anyone have any ideas?

Problem solved. The procedural wings, when mounted vertically, were altering the CoL.

I am almost sure it's the vertical fins on the tail, modded ones sometimes end up generating lift to the same side(eg. both to the right, instead of one to the right, one to the left) even with symmetry on. It has happened to me a few times. Especially the ones with fixed "wing" and a smaller moving control surface.

Thanks, Mack, that was it. The CoL straightened out as soon as pulled the vertical stabilizers off. I appreciate the help.

Try placing the p-wing first. Then look at the center of lift as you hold G to make them bigger, I find there is a maximum size before they start distorting the lift.

Doesn't seem to be the case with stock wings.
