The Kuban Missile Crisis. Rating: Very Complex

Scenario:

The Enemy has secretly built a Naval air base on an island 31km off the coast. It is thought that they have stockpiled nuclear ballistic missiles and are readying them for an attack.

The Mission:

Deploy a marker vehicle at the VAB.

Send a small, fully retrievable (ie self powered and able to freely navigate) water craft to monitor the situation on the island (also to serve as a target marker). Don't worry about getting spotted, the Enemy is water blind and wouldn't spot you if you floated in on an orange tank...

Build and deploy an orbital missile platform, and rain holy havoc on the Kuban Naval base ("The Island Runway"). The payload *must* include at least one missile. Missiles *must* be fired *from orbit*. 1 point for every missile fired and 1 point for every direct hit on the runway or any of the buildings. 100 points for a safe landing of the platform back at KSC afterward**.

Mechjeb allowed, otherwise stock all the way. Sorry Romfarer fans, not today.

Missiles must have explosive payloads (fuel/oxidiser tanks). No fragmentation warheads (ie stack seperators fired at high velocities or similar).

You may use as many launch vehicles as you like (ie to load the platform if you choose to arm it once it's in orbit, or to fuel the missiles), but all missile launches must originate from one single platform*.

Kerbals not necessary for any part of this mission.

*If you perform an orbital construction, bear in mind that to score for landing the completed platform must land in one piece.

**-1 point for every km over 3km distance from the VAB marker vehicle. Landing 10km away will deduct 7 points.

A crash landing in which the platform is damaged (any parts falling off) or destroyed counts as neither a landing nor does it incur a distance penalty.
